Small Kitchen Lighting Ideas
Just because your kitchen is small doesn't mean it can't have great lighting!
Small kitchen lighting ideas are not too far off from the lighting you would use in larger kitchens - you just need less of it!
Even a small kitchen needs general and task lighting so at the minimum you might have a center light in the ceiling for general
and some under cabinet lights for task lighting. If your kitchen works like this and you like the look than look no further for
small kitchen lighting ideas. But if you need a little more, you can always add
pendant lighting , recessed lighting ,
track lighting and
even some accent lighting .
Depending on the layout of your room, you could add pendant lighting above the table or island - this may be all you need
for general lighting and the pendants can add to your décor. You might try some track or recessed lighting which you can use as
task lighting – just point it to the areas on your counter where you will be working and you can avoid under cabinet lighting.
Not all small kitchen lighting ideas are for functional lighting, however. Even a smaller room can look great with some accent
lighting. The key is to not overdo it. Don't add so many lights that the room is blinding and make sure the general and task
lighting is on a separate switch so you can turn one off but still have the other.
For accent lighting, you may want to add a small table lamp that matches the decorating scheme or some small white lights in a
plant or on a window.
