How to Design Kitchen Island Countertops With A Wet Bar
Kitchen island countertops make a great place to install a small wet bar. You need to start by measuring the size of the kitchen island countertop combined with the bar. If there is no storage in the island, you need two plywood pieces with dimensions matching the height and width of the back and the face of the island. You need another two plywood pieces measuring the same as the height and width of the sides.
You may choose to leave the countertop open and install a solid surface such as granite later. Purchase metal braces based on the surface you want to use on your kitchen island countertops. Cut separate pieces of solid countertop material or wood depending on the small countertop dimensions.
Now, join the side pieces to the front and back pieces to make the box for the kitchen island. You must use waterproof adhesive as well as wood screws to secure it. If you plan to include storage, install the shelving brackets and then install the shelves. Next, attach the door hinges. Depending on your preference, complete your kitchen island using stain, or primer and paint. Let the doors thoroughly dry before you attach them to the island.
Next, install the counter bar and the countertop to the kitchen island to finish the task. For this, place brackets for the counter bar where you want to include it at the backside of the island. Next, based on the instructions from the manufacturer, install counter bar material to the brackets.
In case, you are using tiled kitchen island countertops, spread tile adhesive on the wooden top and then firmly press tiles into their place to secure them. When the adhesive dries, apply grout and grout sealer to complete the task.
